What have we done lately?

Love First...

offered Weaving the Fabric of Diversity, which encourages each of us to "Love First" owning, understanding, and overcoming our own "isms," e.g. racism, heterosexism, ableism, ageism, and/or classism. These adult-education sessions were held after worship service on Sunday mornings.
organized social outing--lunch at Blueberry Hill, then seeing The State of Marriage on June 13--for area UUs supporting LGBTQ equality. (This funny, poignant performance piece--featuring cabaret singers, dancers, and very colorful characters--shows why it is important to legalize same-sex marriage; and it portrays the personal journeys of local same-sex couples traveling in the past, present, or future to Iowa to be married legally.)
organized the UU booth at St. Louis Pride Fest 2010, held on June 26 and 27. Love First members donated funds, prizes, and brochures, and eight members and friends of Love First were among the 17 who took shifts staffing the booth; among the 40 or so attending Worship in the Park, led by the Rev. Khleber Van Zandt V, minister, First Unitarian Church, Alton, IL; and/or among the 35 or so marching in the UU contingent in the Pride Parade. Approximately 300 persons visited the booth, and 18 signed up for the StL-UU-LGBT-Plus mailing list.
